Clinometer or ELSE

ARE...YOU...READY...FOOOOOOOR....(the anticipation is killer)....THE CLINOMETER!!!
Feast your eyes upon Carly Brown putting the clinometer to use. Assisting her is Michael Tyler and our honorary group member Reid Taylor. Reid might not have known what the heck was going on but boy oh boy the moral support he provided was STELLAR!
At the Child Development Center, the kids got a fun show. Two creepy guys with a measuring wheel. WOO-HOO! We were all very dissapointed that they didn't make the nightly news but hey there's always next time!

Yes Tally did climb to the top of the Dream Station to be measured. Safety first!

To use a clinometer, you look through the straw at the object you want to measure and have someone else observe what number the string falls on.

Nothing goes together more than alligator shoes and algebra solving.

This was exactly what the Basketball Gym was built for right? Ok so we better check with Coach Rob on that one...

Aaaaand Tally's super power is MATH VISION!

Group picture of the final product. Now that's a big bolt!
Pictured left to right:Tally Morrow, Carly Brown, Justin Jernigan, and Micheal Tyler

Justin Jernigan is thinking of all the possibilities the great clinometer entails..."Should we measure a giraffe or a cherry picker?"
Tally Morrow does her hard hitting calculations while the other group members discuss the clinometer's future measuring plans.

Michael "Mike" Tyler attatches the telescope-like straw to the protractor for our viewing pleasure. The water is to keep him hydrated. Making clinometers is a very physically demanding job.

Dedication at work. To make the clinometer we taped a straw to the flat side of a protractor and then attached a bolt to a string to weigh the string down while we measured.

Carly Brown is diligently assembling the revolutionary tool called a "clinometer". A clinometer is used to measure th distance between the viewing point and an object. As you can see, she is attaching the over sized bolt for supreme measuring capability.

Now THIS video shows you what clinometers are all about...fun at the sr citizen building, DUH!!!

If we have peaked your interest in clinometers (and we know we have) here are a couple of links that you can use to explore you new fasination. Have fun!
Thank you so very much for viewing our blog. We hope you enjoyed it. Now we're off to have more measuring adventures. Hollerback Yo...
